Road to final.

ICC CRICKET WORLD CUP 2011 is started on 19 Feb 2011 in ASIA( INDIA,SRILANKA and BANGLADESH)


There are two groups of ICC CRICKET WORLD CUP 2011.There are 7 teams in each group.In group A teams are (Pakistan,Australia,Newzealand,Srilanka,Zimbabwe,Canada and Kenya)

In the group B teams are (India,South Africa,England,West Indies,Bangladesh,Ireland and Netherlands).The Top 4 teams of each groups are qualifies for the quarter final.

From group A ( Pakistan,Australia,Newzealand and srilanka) qualifies for the quarter final and From Group B ( India, South Africa, England and West Indies) qualifies for the quarter finals.


In 1st Quarter-final (Pakistan face West Indies) Pakistan won
In 2nd Quarter-final (India face Australia) India won
In 3rd quarter-fianl (South Africa face Newzealand) NewZealand won
In 4th quarter-fianl (Srilanka face England) Srilanka won

So the teams qualifies for the Semi-finals are (Pakistan,India,Newzealand and srilanka)


1st Semi-final is played on 29th Mar 2011 between (Srilanka and Newzealand) in Colombo(srilanka) Srilanka won this match and qualifies for the Final of ICC CRICKET WORLD CUP 2011.



2nd semi-final is the final before the final for both teams and is played on 30th Mar 2011 between (India and pakistan) in MOHALI(India).INDIA won this match and qualifies for the final of ICC CRICKET WORLD CUP 2011.


Now INDIA will face SRILANKA in the final of ICC CRICKET WORLD CUP 2011 on 2nd April 2011.

2nd Semi-final Pakistan vs India.

2nd Semi-final of the ICC CRICKET WORLD CUP 2011 is a final before final for both of the teams and is played between India and Pakistan at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium MOHALI (INDIA) on 30 Mar 2011.


Umpires: RS Madugalle,IJ Gould,SJA Taufel,BF Bowden,RJ Tucker.


India won the toss and chose elected to bat first.They started very well and sets a total of 161 runs on 50 overs with the loss of 9 wickets.SR Tendulkar scored 85 runs on 115 balls.Wahab Raiz took 5 wickets for pakistan.

In replay pakistan started well but they did not carry on.Pakistan team all out on 231 runs in 49.5 overs.Misbah-ul-Haq scored 56 on 76 balls.Indian all bowlers took 2 each wickets.

1st Semi-final world cup 2011.

1st Semi-final of ICC CRICKET WORLD CUP 2011 is played between Srilanka and New Zealand at R.Premadasa Stadium on 29 Mar 2011.


Umpires: BC Broad,Aleem Dar,SJ Davis,M Erasmus,BR Doctrove.


NewZealand won the toss and chose elected to bat first but their batting performance is not quite good .NewZealand team all out on 217 runs in 48.5 overs.SB Styris scored 57 runs on 77 balls.BAW Mendis and SL Malinga took 3 wickets each.

In replay srilankan batsmen played really well they won the match in 47.5 overs with 5 wickets in hand. TM Dilshan scored 73 on 93 balls.TG Southee took 3 wickets.

Miandad defends Afridi's comment.

Pakistan cricket legend Javed Miandad feels captain Shahid Afridi's comment about aiming to make Sachin Tendulkar wait for his 100th international century shouldn't be made an issue.

"He (Tendulkar) will have to wait until after the World Cup to reach the landmark. We will try and make sure no batsman plays a long innings (in the semi-final at Mohali)," Afridi reportedly said recently.

"Don't take Afridi's comment too seriously. No captain or team will want runs scored off them. Every team has its strategy after all and Pakistan will try their best to restrict batsmen like Tendulkar," said Miandad, who figured in six World Cups (1975, 1979, 1983, 1987, 1992 and 1996).

He resisted from getting into the merits of each side to name his favourite. "A lot of things are said about strengths on paper.

"On paper, South Africa were better than New Zealand. But what happened in the quarter-final in Dhaka? New Zealand beat the so-called favourites. All that matters is what you do on the day."

Asked whether he would unleash veteran Shoaib Akhtar on India considering that he's had some success against the neighbour, Miandad said: "It depends on his fitness and the pitch at Mohali.

"You chalk out your strategy looking at the strip too. Shoaib's a good fast bowler and well known for his exploits. He can be an option."

Afridi behind Pakistan's success.

Most of the Pakistan players believe that their team have reached the semi-finals, thanks to the shrewd and aggressive leadership of Shahid Afridi.

Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez gave credit to Afridi after a training session at the Punjab Cricket Association ground. "As a leader, Shahid has controlled the team very well. He has played a huge role in keeping the team together," remarked Hafeez, who looks up to his leader for guidance and gets inspired by his captain.


"The big positive about Afridi is that he controls and supports all the players to the hilt. For me, as a player, when you know your captain is supporting you, it is very easy to put in a 110 per cent effort," he added.
Regarding transformation in the team and how Afridi went about building confidence, Hafeez said: "We didn't know who our opponent would be at any time. We have reached here purely because of the hard work we have put in during the last seven months."
"Every individual knew that if we play as a team we are a very good side and capable of winning the World Cup. That strong belief is what we carried into the first match. It's the belief that is crucial to our making it to the semi-finals."


So what are his plans to tackle the huge pressure of an India-Pakistan match? "There is bound to be pressure while playing in the semifinal of a World Cup. Just because it is an India-Pakistan match does not mean that there is any extra pressure on the team."
"We are enjoying our cricket and supporting each other. It is that unity and backing we give each other that has been the key to our success."

IMRAN KHAN:Dhoni is a good Captain then Afridi.

Pakistani super star and most experience player IMRAN KHAN said on Saturday that the experience of leading the side in test matches will give INDIAN caption MS Dhoni an edge over Pakistani caption Shahid khan Afridi in the world cup semi-final to be held in mohali march 30.


Dhoni has a big advantage because he is leads his team in all formats of cricket and the other side shahid afridi lead his team in ODIs and T20es and not in the test matches.A captain learn many important things in test matches.He said:I must say one thing that test cricket is the real cricket.
